Yes, yes, I know. I’m a failure 😉 I wish I could have gotten this little “post” up earlier, but I didn’t. Soooo…. There is no Sewing Saturday post today. I started working on it. I got most of the content completed. But I needed to take the week off. This week was, hmm, complicated? BUT, I promise, I’ll have the hand sewing Part 2 up next week! And I just wanted to let you know that I may not have posts put up during the week for a few weeks. At some point soonish, I’ll give you a homestead update.
And I just wanted to let you know that I may not have posts put up during the week for a few weeks, just Sewing Saturdays. At some point soonish, I’ll give you a homestead update. We’ve been busy with end-of-summer stuff with the kids. Feels funny saying that, since summer doesn’t end until late September, but businesses stop doing summery things, and our public and private school counterparts are running out of time to get together for playdates and sleepovers. And to top that off, we are working towards becoming more organized as a family, and to have a better routine. All of which is time-consuming!
Anyway, there is no reason you can’t keep working on the sewing series without me. Make sure you’ve practiced any skills we worked on in past weeks. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be! If you haven’t read through all of our posts, here’s what we’ve written so far. Want to be ready for the pillow project coming up?
Your Sewing Machine
Want to be ready for the pillow project coming up? Make sure you have the materials ready! The post Introduction to Sewing: Part 2 has a list of supplies you’ll be needing throughout the series, but a quick rundown of what you will want for the pillow project:
- Fabric, Minimum 1 yard. You’d actually want 1 1/4 yards of fabric if you plan to make more than one pillow. (Preferably a standard cotton material, especially if you are very beginner. You could use upholstery type fabric, but don’t use something you aren’t comfortable with if you are new to all of this.)
- Matching thread. (If you are picking out a printed fabric, choose a thread that matches the main color in the material. If there is no main color, just choose one of the colors.)
- Fiberfill (stuffing) or a pillow form (18×18, though you could do a different size if you choose)
- Hand Sewing Needle
- Sewing Machine (and bobbin and needle)
Well, I think that covers it! Have a great weekend!
